Ended My Juice Feast on Day 11: Here’s What I Learned
After completing 11 days of juicing with fresh fruit juices and coconut water as my only source of nutrients, I’m reflecting on the experience and sharing insights with anyone curious about the process.
The Journey of a Juice Feast
Hydration is Powerful
Juicing provides structured water (H3O2), found in fresh vegetables and fruits. I delivered a concentrated source of vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients directly to my cells. This helped to optimize cellular functions like energy production, repair, and detoxification. Juices bypass the need for heavy digestion, allowing your body to quickly absorb natural sugars and nutrients. This provides a steady and sustainable energy boost without the crash associated with processed foods or caffeine.
Resting the Digestive System
By consuming only liquids, I gave my digestive system a break, allowing my body to focus on healing, detoxing, and rejuvenation. Juices are easy on the digestive system, allowing your gut to rest and repair. The high water content and nutrients also promote a healthy gut lining and help feed beneficial bacteria in your microbiome.
Mental Clarity and Emotional Balance
On Day 2, I experienced sharper mental focus and a sense of calm. Proper hydration supports brain function and helps regulate hormones. The quick absorption of nutrients from juices enhances mental clarity, reduces brain fog, prevents the itis, and fosters a positive emotional state.
The Detox Phases: Bowel Movement Insights
Days 1–3
This was the most intense detox period. Frequent bowel movements (3 - 5 per day) flushed out stored waste in the body, and I noticed bloating subsiding. I lost 5 pounds by the end of day 3.
Days 4–7
Elimination slowed (2 - 3 per day) but continued steadily. The body seemed to focus more on internal, cellular detox. I’m always impressed by the amount of waste that leaves the body after not consuming whole foods for several days.
Days 8–11
Bowel movements became minimal as my digestive system rested fully, signaling deeper hydration and cleansing. I lost a total of 10 pounds by the end of the juice feast.
Challenges and Wins
Challenges
Preparing for my juice feast presented some unique challenges. I waited until the last moment to make my trip to the farmer’s market, pick up the produce I planned to juice for the week and grab bags of coconuts. One thing I’ve learned is that I prefer to have everything ready at least a day before starting. Picking up produce, juicing the same day, carrying heavy bags upstairs, unloading, and preparing everything all at once is physically demanding. I prefer to give my body some rest before diving into the juice feast itself.
Another layer of challenge came from my collaboration on a Juice Boost during the first seven days of the feast. While this collaboration was exciting and energizing, it also called for more time and focus. It involved developing strategies for Instagram Live sessions, juicing live on camera, answering follower questions, and planning social media content. While I loved the interactive and engaging space we created, it was also a performance that demanded focus and energy. This juice feast was unlike my previous ones—it was action-packed, but also high-energy and filled with fun.
Wins
The collaboration itself was one of the most rewarding aspects of this juice feast. Working with AJ Moore of @veg2gave me the chance to share ideas, exchange recipes, and explore different approaches to juicing. We revisited recipes from my Revitalize With Juice eBook, and the response was incredible. Several new followers purchased the eBook during the live sessions, asked questions, and shared their experiences. Seeing the engagement from the live sessions, responses to the email newsletters, and interactions with the members of the Revitalize & Juice free virtual juice community group was a powerful reminder of the community built around this lifestyle.
Additionally, I noticed a surge of creative energy during the feast. Despite the packed schedule, I felt inspired and productive, which allowed me to put my best into everything I did. It was a week full of great challenges and even greater wins, reminding me of the joy and power that comes with embracing the process and sharing it with others.
